Sunstone – a.k.a. aventurine feldspar – a variety of feldspar exhibiting an aventurization effect, manifested in radially observed shimmering reflections in reddish, sometimes greenish or yellowish hues. This phenomenon is usually caused by small, scaly inclusions of hematite, goethite, lepidocrocite or, less frequently, muscovite, sericite, or biotite. It belongs to very rare minerals.
It is found in: Russia (Baikal, Urals), USA, Norway , as well as in Sudetenland in Poland.
