Dalmatian jasper – a variety of jasper, which is characterized by a distinctive pattern of black or brown spots on a light, often white or gray background. The name of this stone comes from its resemblance to the pattern of mottles on the fur of Dalmatian dogs. It is a mineral of the silicate family. Its largest deposits are found in Mexico near Chihuahua.
