Aquamarine (Latin: aqua marina – “sea water”) – a blue, dark blue or blue-green (depending on the amount of admixtures of iron compounds) gemstone, which is a transparent variety of Beryl.The mineral was used as the first lenses for eyeglasses.
It is found in: Brazil, Pakistan, USA, Russia, Madagascar (considered one of the best, dark blue aquamarine crystals), South-West African countries.
