Amethyst “A” – high quality stones that have been selected for color and purity.
Amethyst – a mineral of the quartz group (SiO2). Named from the Greek word “amethystos” – sober. It is a stone that belongs to the most valuable and beautiful varieties of quartz, it was called the bishop’s stone. Its color ranges from light purple to dark purple, the coloring is caused by an admixture of iron, and it is transparent and translucent. It is often found as the filling of hollow agate rocks.
