Amazonite (Amazon stone) – a mineral of the silicate cluster. A green or bluish-green variety of feldspar called microcline; a semi-precious stone. It belongs to the group of rare minerals. It owes its name to the legendary Amazon, the origin of which comes from the name of the river – the Amazon, but interestingly, amazonite is not found in these regions. Originally this name was used to describe green jade.
