Smoky Quartz – a natural stone

Smoky quartz is a mineral belonging to the quartz family. Its name derives from its characteristic smoky appearance. Smoky quartz can be found in various locations, including the USA, Switzerland, Brazil, Scotland, Uruguay, Norway, and Madagascar. It is often found alongside crystal, rose quartz, and amethyst. Smoky quartz has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale and a density of 2.65 g/cm³. Its distinguishing features include a trigonal crystallographic system, lack of cleavage, and conchoidal fracture.

        Smoky Quartz – color
